What you need to know

  • Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus phones.
  • Besides features like Quick Share, Single Take, and My Filters, the update also brings the June 2020 Android security patch.
  • The update is currently rolling out only in Germany and Korea.

Samsung began rolling out the One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy Note 9 last week, bringing a few new Galaxy S20 features to its 2018 flagship. Just as expected, the company has now started pushing the One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy S9 series. As per the folks at SamMobile, the One UI 2.1 update for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus arrives as version G96xNKSU3ETF4 in Korea and G96FXXU9ETF5 in Germany.

Since the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have already received two major OS upgrades, One UI 2.1 is the last major update for the two phones. It introduces quite a few new features, including Quick Share, Music Share, Single Take, Pro video recording, My Filters, and a new AR Zone app. Along with these new features, the One UI 2.1 update also comes with an updated Samsung Keyboard with support for multilingual translation, quick crop feature in the Gallery app, and the June 2020 Android security patch.

While the update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus in just two markets, it is expected to expand to a few more countries in the coming days. As with any other software update, you will receive a notification once One UI 2.1 becomes available to download in your country. You can also check for the update manually by opening the Settings app on your phone and heading over to Software update > Download and install.
