A New Challenger Appears!

February 23, 2018: Capcom has launched Street Fighter 4: Champion Edition for Android and it's fun but flawed. Meanwhile, Dunk Line is an addictive new game from the folks at Ketchapp!

Street Fighter 4: Champion Edition

This week, Street Fighter 4: Champion Edition landed in the Google Play Store as a free download, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it

Pretty much everyone loves Street Fighter. It's one of those legendary game franchises featuring iconic characters like Ryu, Chun Li, Blanca, and many more. With Street Fighter 4: CE, you get to play as Ryu in Arcade mode, but the other characters must be unlocked with an in-app purchase. I was unable to unlock them, though, as the in-app store refused to load.

The gameplay itself is pretty good. The touch controls are as tricky to use as you'd expect with a fighting game on mobile, but fortunately, there is support for Bluetooth controllers and it makes a world of difference.

But then there's the graphics. I mean, Capcom. The graphics here are a mish-mash between pixelated and 3D-rendered and look OK, but certainly not up to snuff for a game released in 2018. Street Fighter 2 on the SNES looked fantastic with a fully-animated background with people cheering. Why does this game look worse?

The game itself, though, plays pretty well. Since it's free you can check it out to see if it's worth your time, but if you're a diehard Street Fighter fan you'll want to lower your expectations a bit, sadly.

Dunk Line

Ketchapp is known for releasing some really simple and fun games for Android, and their latest, Dunk Line is pretty great.

it adds a fun new wrinkle to the original Dunk Shot game where instead of shooting the ball yourself, you must draw a line to direct the ball to the hoop. Its simple enough when you're dealing with one ball… But as you progress the game gets more difficult by removing the backboard and throwing multiple balls at one time. You only have three lines you can draw per level, so you gotta be quick and strategic.

It's free to play with ads and a great way to kill some time.
