What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?

No More Buttons
We're continuing to play some of the finalists for Google's 2017 Indie Game Contest and this week we're looking at a cool new puzzle-platformer with a unique control scheme that's kind of given away in the title — No More Buttons.
In this game, you control our little round protagonist (a button himself, no less) as he makes his way through each level. Unlike traditional platformer games, there are no set on-screen controls. Instead, the buttons for controlling your character are incorporated into the game world itself as physical objects that you can push around and use as platforms, or flip on the side to change how the button works. Even your character's button comes into play in clever ways.
It's such a simple concept that works really well for incorporating puzzles into the game — you won't be able to jump if you don't find a way to bring that block along with you. No More Buttons also features beautiful artwork and sound design which is understated but quite nice. According to the Google Play Store, this game has under 100 downloads, so if you're looking for a cool new platformer to play and love to support indie developers make sure to check out No More Buttons!

Hero Hunters
Hero Hunters enjoyed its worldwide release this week and, to be honest, I'm kind of torn on this game.
On one hand, I love the premise of the core gameplay. In this third-person shooter, you assemble a team of super soldiers and then can switch between each squad member live in battle. This is more of a rail shooter-style game where you're able to dodge incoming enemy attacks by swiping left or right but each character is basically stuck in one spot until you clear the objectives. There's also a rewarding upgrade system and each of 40 playable characters is pretty cool in their own right.
What drags this game down are all the in-app purchases, loot crates, and the other predictable inclusions that just kills some of the fun for me. The campaign rounds are too short — I would have preferred a full single-player campaign built around this gameplay rather than what we got here — and the PvP mode doesn't really excite me much at all… but it's free to play and still pretty fun in spite of the lame freemium stuff.
