What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?
Update January 5, 2018: More great games keep getting ported over to Android from Steam. This week, we check out Bridge Constructor Portal and Peace, Death!
Bridge Constructor Portal
Before Google Assistant and Alexa, everyone's favorite talkative A.I. assistant was GLaDOS from the incredible Portal series — and GLaDOS is back and on Android with Bridge Constructor Portal, a glorious mashup between two of the best physics-based games out there.
Bridge Constructor, if you've never played it before, is a pretty basic game that requires you to build bridges creatively that won't crumble under the weight of traffic. Portal, of course, is all about completing complex physics-based experiments in the tightly controlled Aperture Laboratories test facilities. Combine the two, and you get a mind-bending physics game that's almost too much fun. The touch controls for building the bridges takes a bit to get used to, and this is an ideal game for any Samsung Note users looking for more excuses to whip out that S-Pen.
While this is more a Bridge Constructor spin-off than an official Portal game developed by Valve, the visual style and humor from Portal is well-preserved. There are 60 test chambers to work your way through, with GLaDOS offering helpful (and sarcastic) guidance along the way. This is a fantastic new game to play while we all wait with bated breath for Portal 3.
(Come on, Valve!)

Peace, Death!
When you die, Death decides whether to send you to Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. Seems easy enough… right?
In Peace, Death!, you play as the grim reaper as he settles into his office job working for Death. As clients pop up, you must quickly determine if their soul is damned to an eternity in hell or worthy of ascending to heaven. Each day, a new criterion for determining your client's fate is added and speed is of the essence here so you can't afford to make too many mistakes. What's more, you've also got some trainees in your employ who frequently need some advice, and you also have to deal with random catastrophes that'll quickly fill up your backlog if you aren't efficient at your job.
There are 49 days spread across seven weeks for you to play through, as the grim reaper never takes a day off. You work for Death, but you can also contract yourself out to work for the other three Horsemen of the Apocalypse, too.
As you would expect, a game that has you playing as Death is packed with super dark humor and is probably not too appropriate for younger kids. But it's wicked challenging and a great game for anyone into logic-based games.
