Some of Google’s new Pixel 2 XL smartphones are being shipped without an Android OS

Google is shipping some of the Pixel 2 XL devices without an operating system

Google’s Pixel 2 XL handsets have been shrouded with issues since the time it was launched, be it high frequency noises, quality of the display, color settings, poor quality audio recordings on 4K videos or screen burn-in issue. If this was not enough, some of the Google’s Pixel 2 XL owners have now reported of receiving handsets without the Android operating system installed on them, rendering the device totally unusable. Apparently, some of the Pixel 2 XL handsets were shipped by Google without installing the Android OS on it.

The issue was first reported on Reddit, noting that the smartphones display a “Can’t find valid operating system. The device will not start,” message when switched on.

Google is aware of the problem and that the problem has already been fixed, said a source familiar with the matter. It is presumed that it was a manufacturing defect that has since been corrected.

Currently, the only fix for Google is to replace the device, as there is no way of installing the OS on Pixel 2 XL handsets. In case, you have received a Google Pixel 2 XL smartphone without Android, send it back to Google and ask for a replacement.
