ExtraTorrent Uploader Groups Start Their Own Torrent Website

ETTV, ETHD and DTOne launch a new website called ETTV.tv

In a surprise move, ExtraTorrent, a major BitTorrent giant, had decided to permanently pull down the curtains on its website in May this year.

The ExtraTorrent homepage greeted its billions of visitors with a goodbye message that read: “ExtraTorrent has shut down permanently. ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline. We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones. Thx to all ET supporters and torrent community. ET was a place to be….”

The site which was home to several prominent uploaders and groups were left in the lurch due to the shutdown. While ExtraTorrent’s movie torrent distribution group ETRG also went offline soon thereafter, ETTV and ETHD – TV and movie torrent uploaders – continued to remain operational through sites such as The Pirate Bay and 1337x. However, there were still some torrent followers who did not know where to go.

While ExtraTorrent’s name continues to live through millions of downloads via ETTV and ETHD torrents but the activity of downloading is scattered around sites. To ensure that uploaders and group have one home (just like ExtraTorrent), ETTV, ETHD and DTOne have collaborated to launch their own torrent website called ETTV.tv.

“We have launched a new site to cater to our fans,” the ETTV.tv team told TorrentFreak.

“Since the shutdown of ExtraTorrent we were homeless and our fans and followers didn’t know where to find us. We decided, along with DTOne (formerly DDR/ICTV/DUS), to come together and make a site that can bring our fans back.”

ETTV.tv is operated by different people and only a select group of trusted uploaders are allowed to add new content. Currently, it only offers a curated selection of movie and TV uploads and may expand to other categories in the future.

“We want to have a site for best quality torrents thus we are not taking every uploader that comes knocking our doors,” the ETTV.tv team explains. With over 50,000 torrents already on the site, the uploaders are trying to bring back their complete archive online.

Since it is a new website, it is plagued with several bugs and other issues, which is being closely monitored by the site’s operators. ETTV.tv users are encouraged to report problems and come with ideas, the team told TorrentFreak.

Currently, many close followers have found their way to ETTV.tv, which is being promoted by the groups in their upload notes on other sites.

“We hope we can live up to the trust we had in the past and continue to serve our fans and followers,” ETTV.tv signs off.
